GARRISON — Upgrading the city’s system of reading water meters is a plan for Garrison for 2023 after the city council made the decision last week to invest in a new method. During the most recent Garrison City Council meeting on Jan. 3, the procedure in which water meters are read was discussed – and the conclusion was that it was quite antiquated. “The one that we have now is not fixable,” explained council member David Reinarts. “It’s a dinosaur,” added city auditor Diane Affeldt. The current system, SENSUS, has been in place with the city
since 2006. “The device that we use to download the meter readings from the field to the computer is pretty much done for,” Affeldt said. “We purchased it in 2006, so we’ve used it for many, many years.
