Time for clearing the air

Although they spoke at different times, representatives from the Hugh P. Minehan Post 49 American Legion and the North Dakota Governor’s Walleye Cup Committee were determined to get any issues between their organizations and the Garrison Parks and Rec Department resolved.
The representatives attended the parks and rec. department’s monthly meeting last week to discuss restroom and garbage matters at the City Park, issues that were the hot topic of conversation at the August board meeting.
Past Legion Commander Jerry Cain asked the board for a clarification on who is responsible for maintenance of the restroom facilities. The restrooms are in the building that houses the Legion Post.
Cain said it seems fair that if the board wanted them open it would be responsible for taking care of cleaning. Who is responsible for maintaining the facilities was never discussed between the two entities, he said.
Understanding his dilemma, Parks & Rec. Board Chairperson Laura Hellebush said the board wants a working relationship with the Legion.
