Trail plan receives support

By STU MERRY

A plan to establish a walking/hiking/biking trail in Wilderness Park has received a unanimous vote of support from two community entities – the Garrison Chamber of Commerce and Parks & Rec. Department. Letters voicing support are coming from both groups.

The idea for the path comes out of the Chamber’s Community Development Committee. The goal is to make the park more user-friendly. The trail could also serve as a "Safe Route to School" path.

Long-range plans could include extending the trail to the high school, pool, football field, T-ball field and Titans American Legion baseball field. For now, creating a trail in Wilderness Park is the main focus.

The plan was presented to Parks & Rec. board members this past week by Community Development Committee member Mike Matteson. "We think it’s something that’s realistic and reasonable for us," Matteson said. "If you think it’s something of merit we want your support."
