Turtle Lake native joins bank

By STU MERRY

The call of the country and familiar territory has brought a Turtle Lake native to Garrison State Bank & Trust.

John Ravnaas is the newest member of the bank’s lending team. He’s the son of Lui and Carol Ravnaas of rural Turtle Lake. Lui is a former Turtle Lake High School principal and is a part-time farmer. Carol is a former third grade teacher. Both Lui and Carol are retired.

A 1983 graduate of Turtle Lake-Mercer High School, Ravnaas has a banking background spanning 17 years, being with Starion Financial in Bismarck and Bremer Bank in Minot.

He presently lives in Bismarck but plans to move to the Garrison area this winter or coming spring.

Growing up in Turtle Lake, but with farming in his family’s blood, (a farm southeast of Benedict), Ravnaas confesses the banking industry didn’t seem to be his future career.
