Two resign from parks, rec.

Reinarts, Schlichting join council

While one branch of city government, city council, is gelling and taking shape, the other, the parks & rec. department, became as fluid as ever Tuesday night.

In council chambers, Dave Reinarts became one of what will be three new members on the Garrison City Council. He took the oath of office Tuesday night during the council’s reorganizational meeting.

"Welcome aboard," said Mayor Shannon Jeffers.

Across the hall, in municipal court chambers, two bombshells were dropped. A pair of parks & rec. members tendered their letters of resignation, effective immediately, and handed in their keys before everyone was settled in their seat. The two leaving the board are Kerry Seidler and Jessica Seidler.

In her letter, Jessica said it was her pleasure to serve on the board for the past two years. But she verbally told others on the board she is tired of the constant fighting among members. She alleges a lack of communication. "I’m tired of the stress and headache and I’m not going to do it anymore."
