Unclear when vaccines will be widely available

BY TYSON SMEDSTAD

For residents wondering about “When can I get my vaccine?” and the answer is unclear.
McLean County is one of the larger counties in North Dakota and it is going to take a while to vaccinate everyone.
North Dakota is allocated vaccines every week from Pfizer and Moderna, but there is no set number of vaccines, or who in the state will recieve it.
Currently, health care providers are in the process of vaccinating group 1B which consists of people 75 or older
Vaccine clinics are tentatively scheduled for Feb. 22-26 for people 65-74 years of age.
Vaccines will always be available to the prior priority groups.
“The health care providers in our First District Health unit region have been moving together at the same pace because we want to be consistent,” Heer said. “It all depends on the allocation of the vaccine. There may be weeks where public health gets none, or small amounts.”
Heer suggested individuals get their name on multiple facilities’ vaccine lists because facilities get different amounts at different times.
