Vintage iron comes alive

If they could only talk, they’d create a symphony.
The community of Makoti hosted its 56th annual threshing show this past weekend. Old iron came to life.
Doors were opened to a number of displays of vintage equipment. One of the displays is a collection of 6-volt horns. The owner, Harry Franklin of Glendive, Mont.
The former Makoti area resident counted his collection. He figures there’s more than 250 various styles of old horns mounted and placed near the rafters in one of the buildings on the threshing show grounds.
The horns used to be mounted on trucks and cars. Franklin said the sounds they emit would run the gamut. He speculates there’s even one that goes “Oooga.”
