Water idea backed

Water idea backed

Garrison’s Parks and Recreation board says it likes the idea of tapping into the city’s aquifer to provide water to the Legion baseball field, among other sports facilities in the immediate area in northwest Garrison.
At their meeting Feb. 13, board members voted to back such a proposal.
“It will have more benefits than not,” said board chair Kerry Seidler.
She went on to say the goal is to make all fields useable and to make the complexes lucrative enough that the community could host tournaments.
GAIA officials have drafted a letter supporting the use of the aquifer plan.
An excerpt from the letter reads: “GAIA proposes and encourages the city, park board, school board and baseball board to consider partnering in exploring and advancing a project to develop a system to use the well water. GAIA proposes and would support the use of Sales & Use funds for this project as it would benefit the community and provide for economic development. GAIA offers to provide assistance in furthering this project to a successful conclusion.”
