Water intake work set

Preliminary work continues that will see repairs made to a water intake pump lying on the floor of Lake Sakakawea.
In an email to the city from Jim Lennington of Bartlett & West Engineering, Bismarck, the city was contacted by Pump Systems, Inc. and told that the leads cannot be replaced on the salvaged pump and that a new motor has to be purchased.
Lennington said the expected delivery date is Nov 15. He went on to say that with the following week being Thanksgiving and to provide some extra time for delivery of the pump, officials think it is best to put off the dive work until the week of Nov 26.
“While this puts us closer to the ‘hard water’ season we probably still have 3-4 weeks before ice starts forming,” Lennington said in the email.
