Where’s the law enforcement?

Where’s the law enforcement?

The on-again-off-again relationship between the City of Garrison and McLean County Sheriff’s Department seems to be off again.
The scant Municipal Court report for June that was presented at the council meeting July 5 raised a few eyebrows around the table. Only four offenses came before Municipal Court Judge Bruce Klabunde. And there was only one parking citation for $10.
“It’s the dead of summer, and only four citations were issued in June,” exclaimed Alderman Chad Betz, rolling his eyes. “I can’t believe that’s all that went on in Garrison. There’s more traffic and more people.”
Fellow council members agreed; something seems wrong. The council feels the city is being shortchanged when it comes to enforcement of its ordinances.
Since the first of the year, offenses have averaged about 13 per month. With a contract for 2012 on the table, council members wonder if the city is once again getting its money’s worth.
