This year's Governor’s Cup wrapped up on Saturday and with its end came two new faces into the spotlight. New to the winners podium at least, Cody Pardon and Josh Gladback of Minot have fished this tournament many times over the years but this is their first win in the derby.
The duo of Pardon and Gladback had an excellent weekend of fishing, catching a staggering 39.48 pounds of fish throughout the event’s two days, a high total they ended up needing as the total separating first and second place in this year’s derby was only .42 pounds. Pardon and Gladback fished a strong tournament all around, reeling in 20.51 pounds of fish on their first day and following that up with 18.97 on the derby’s closing day. At the end of day one the duo found themselves in great position to make a run for the title entering day two in 9th place overall. Upon Cody and Josh making their day two weigh-in they were immediately put at the top of the leaderboard resulting in their relegation to “The Hot Seat.” The two were asked to take their place in the ceremonial seat of honor at the head of the crowd in a fishing boat adjacent to
the stage for a front row seat to the scales.
