Woman cited for conspiracy to commit forgery, counterfeiting

A 32-year-old rural Garrison woman is free after posting a $2,500 unsecured bond for her part in attempting to defraud individuals of money or property by printing counterfeit checks on her home computer.

According to the McLean County Sheriff’s Department, Kayla Lynn Myers was in possession of a counterfeit check issued from U.S. Bank Corp. Investments of St. Paul Minn. for $2,565.76. She was also in possession of another counterfeit check from Swiss Bionic Solutions USA Inc. also made out for $2,565.76.

Authorities noted signatures on both checks are the same person even though the checks are from different banking institutions.
